Slick for Windows Mobile

Anybody using Slick for Windows Mobile? Well, I'm using a Windows Mobile 6.1 phone right now, and I'm using Slick as my yahoo chat client in my phone. I like it because I don't have to create another account (like ebuddy, nimbuzz, or palringo) just to have a chat with my friends. Plus, its free and has yahoo emoticons (although only a small set of it, not so important anyway hahaha.. just ignore this). I'm using Slick version 0.67 right now, since the latest version of it was buggy. But unfortunately, Lonely Cat Games is not supporting Windows Mobile platform anymore *sigh*. Therefore, the latest version that I have right now is version 0.67.

I'm quite happy using it, but only one thing I hate about this application. Why it has to be restricted by time constraint? For example, when you pass certain date or period of time using the application, suddenly the application will ask for an update. If you don't want to update, the application will close itself and you can't use it. Sounds weird to me, why? Because when you update to the latest version, well.. you can use the new app, UNLESS the latest app is have some major bugs so you can't use that so called "latest application" :| This happens to the latest version of Slick as I said before. So I uninstall it and use the previous version (there's a menu for installing the previous version though, kinda lame function since you can't login using the outdated application too.. tsk..)

Now what happens to the current app in my phone recently is that, the time limit on the application acts up again.. The application won't start since 1 January 2012, it asks for an update. Funny though, because when I check the latest version of the application, it says my version is already up to date. And then the application close by itself (duh!).

Dear Lonely Cat Games, maybe only a small percentage of user using this application on Windows Mobile, but how you treat your user reflects what kind of company you are (enough said).

There's a way though to keep using this application, that is you have to change the date in your phone first (let say back into 2011), and start the application. The time limit check only applies at the first time the application starts. When you already pass that check (when the application can start), change back the date of your phone back to original and keep that application always running in the background. If you exit the application, you have to pass the time limit check again when you start the application. If you want to logout from the chat, just simply change your status to disconnect, and leave the application runs in the background. I hope this simple explanation can help others which have the same problem as mine.

Update: Finally Lonely Cat Games developers updated Slick into version 0.71 which removes the time limitation (for good!) hahaha.. well, thank you for listening to the users, I take my words back. I'm happy enough just to have this application running. Happiness is simple ^^
